Bode’s Corned Beef (Plymouth, MI)

It says something about a lunch spot when you ask for a side of Russian dressing (creamy, not red!) and they set down a large squeeze bottle. I don’t know exactly what it says, but I like it.

Bode’s goes back to 1959 as a corned beef house- and for many Plymouth-Canton families, the love goes back generations.

As the name suggests, corned beef is the specialty, but the quality doesn’t stop there. The menu sports house-made items all over: from corned beef and roasted turkey to sourdough bread and biscuits, even some dressings and bbq sauce. Their battered fish and super crunchy onion rings are all hand battered and fried fresh.

Bode’s also has daily specials (sammiches, Goulash, tacos) and special event specials like Friday Fish Fry, St. Pat’s Irish dinner, and fall pumpkin pancakes.

Highlights

Corned beef. Yeah, it sounds like it’d go without saying given the name, but this is seriously amazing stuff!

Poutine. I’ll drive 30 mins. out of my way for good poutine so I had a hard time resisting it here.

Biscuits and gravy. House-made biscuits and gravy are hard to come by north of the Mason-Dixon Line, so get ‘em when you can.

🛏️ Don’t Sleep On

Breakfast. If you’re early, or just in the mood, check out the breakfast options.

Breakfast burritos with house-made pico, biscuits and gravy (yes, house-made!), and fluffy pancakes.

And if corned beef hash is your thing, this is your spot.
